SolidFire Clones and Snapshots
SolidFire offers data cloning technology that enables rapid cloning and protects tenant data from loss should, for example, a tenant accidentally delete data. By allowing point-in-time, read-write copies of volume data to be made and immediately accessed, tenant data can be restored without customer impact or interruption. Creating a clone can be initiated at any time without restriction on the number of clones created. Regardless of the number of clones created, no space on the system or cluster is used and clones remain de-duplicated as new data is written to the volume.
Clones can be converted to read-only Snapshots at any time. Parent volumes for a clone or snapshot can be deleted without affecting the copies you have made.
SolidFire's unique cloning technology offers quick copying of volume data without sacrificing performance or capacity as typically encountered on traditional Copy on First Write architectures.
