Assembling Cloud Building Blocks
Wednesday, September 12, 2012 posted by Dave Cahill
A cloud computing service is typically measured by the quality
and breadth of functionality it delivers rather than the technology
it is built on. However, these services are made possible by a vast
mesh of hardware, software and middleware. The relationship between
these parts is critical to enable a cost-effective, reliable, and
automated cloud.
Time to market is a huge competitive differentiator for cloud
service providers and deeper integrations across key cloud building
blocks are critical to accelerating the realization of the full
promise of cloud computing. At SolidFire we are actively
driving integrations with multiple partners across the entire
spectrum of cloud computing to allow our customers to quickly
deploy new services fueled by SolidFire.
Today we have announced
our initial partner ecosystem, including partnerships and
integrations with Arista Networks, Citrix Systems (Citrix Ready),
Canonical, OnApp, OpenStack, Tier 3 and VMware (VMware Ready). As
we continue to expand this ecosystem, we are focused on
partnerships that deliver out-of-the-box value with relevant, and
validated, joint solutions that maximize adoption and enable
customers' cloud services to move into production faster. It is
difficult today to have a cloud conversation without talking about
one or more of these partners as a core component of the
solution.
While we're proud of our initial efforts and all that we have
achieved in a short period of time, we are only scratching the
surface. Moving forward you can expect SolidFire to expand the
depth and breadth of our ecosystem to ensure strategic alignment
with the technology and services that are integral to the planning,
building and running of cloud infrastructures. In the meantime, if
you are building a cloud and you feel there are additional vendors
or technologies we should include in our ecosystem, please let us
know.
